UnitedPoets website is dedicated to Don Holmes, an extremely talented poet, helpful critique to others, and close friends to others.  Please pay your tribute to Don or learn more about the man who made this website even exist.  Don passed away on March 22nd and is sorely missed by many.

What makes UnitedPoets different from your average poetry site is that not only are all poets welcome all the time, but we require only helpful critique or positive feedback. Some of the members are well-established, well-educated poets; others are trying to learn or just starting out. One or more of our experienced poets may, from time to time, offer suggested rewrites of some of your poetry.  We are here not only to help others learn to enjoy writing, but to teach creativity in your writings.  Poetry is something you should not have to work too hard at, but hopefully, with our help, you will also learn to love expressing yourself in different ways. It shouldn't be a task, it should be a pleasure.  So as you enter the poetry forum to share your poetry, remember, we are all writing for the same reason - expressing our creativity.

To keep a sense of fairness, it is recommended that you don't use the site for merely posting your own work, but to respond to other's poetry as well.  Even if you are not a "born critique" (I'm sure not!) at least by letting the poet know you have read his or her post can make him or her know that somebody cared enough to take the time to read and respond.

Enjoy your time sharing, learning, helping & improving within the poetry forum!  Feel free to email a link to a site that is worth sharing with the members and I will put on the Links page. Use the Poetry Classes that I have provided for your needs and show us who/what you are as a poet!  We want those who are interested in the potential of poetry and writing to connect and share the ways we are making a difference in the world we live in. We want to create a place for us to listen to one another.
